Overview of Alpine hiking

Not only the sea is beautiful in Mallorca! Discover with MallorcAlpina the best routes in the Serra that will take you to the most spectacular peaks of the entire island. The Serra de Tramuntana rises incredibly along ninety kilometers of coastline in the Northwest of Mallorca, forming a series of massifs that exceed a thousand meters in height and culminate in the Puig Major (1445m) the roof of the Balearic Islands. Although it may not seem like it, in Mallorca, you can also enjoy authentic mountain excursions, with the advantage of having the sea close, very close… Then, it is not surprising that the routes that we propose through the alpine area of the mountains, are within the most spectacular in the Spanish territory.

Hiking in the alpine routes of the Serra de Tramuntana, Mallorca

Es Cornador Gran (956m)

Alpine hiking to the magnificent Cornador, Sóller (Private route)

Circular itinerary that starts and ends in the main square of Sóller, with several art nouveau style buildings, in the very heart of the Serra de Tramuntana. The fresh fragrance of the citrus orchards at the bottom of the valley, accompanies you to the picturesque village of Biniaraix, the point where you enter the hidden karstic canyon of “Barranc de Biniaraix”. With its eighteen hundred stone steps surrounded by unbeliveble terraces, the path that rises through the ravine has the category of monument since 1994, as an asset of cultural interest (BIC). Once you reach the top of Cornador Gran (956m), you will be delighted with the best views of the Sóller valley and its surroundings. Going down, on the opposite slope, we cross the private estate of s’Arrom with permission and through an extensive, continuous and really beautiful holm oak grove, we reach Sóller again.

Camí de s'Arxiduc (945m)

Panoramic Alpine hiking in Valldemossa and Deià

Circular route that starts in the picturesque mountain town of Valldemossa. The 500m ascent through a path inside the lush holm oak, allows you to connect with the fantastic Archduke crest. Up here and at bird’s eye view, the panoramic view of both the north coast, dominated by the town of Deià, as well as many of the peaks of more than a thousand meters of the mountain range, and the city of Palma to the south, all surrounded by the sea, offers a tremendously spectacular 360º vision. This helps to understand when the Archduke ordered to build the path by the end of the 19th century, he was looking for nothing else than the pleasure of contemplating these smiling landscapes, nowadays guarded by the Son Moragues public estate. The descent, by a different path, continues inside the holm oak forest to reach Valldemossa again.
