General vision

One of the main features of the Serra de Tramuntana, is its dominating Karst morphology, where, during the years, deep, narrow and truly spectacular canyons have been formed due to the action of the water (with chemical and mechanical erosion). Some of these torrents (as ravines and canyons are known in Mallorca) are classified as some of the most steepest, narrowest and most beautiful in Europe. Some also have the singularity that you can complete them directly to the Mediterranean Sea. In this way, you can enjoy your aquatic adventure along long and narrow corridors, or deep pools where you can jump in, getting over cascades at different heights using rappel techniques or sliding down natural slides. With MallorcAlpina and our 20 years of experience working in the torrents of the Serra, you will be able to discover this spectacular  sport and enjoy with security, in the most purest sense of authentic experience with natural surroundings worth of admiration

I need to take with me:

Sport shoes or mountain boots which are not made of leather (flip flops or sandals are not allowed) and a swimming suit. Some extra clothes to get changed, towel, water and food. In the kit that we provide, among other things, you will also have a bagpack or a bag waterproof to keep your things dry.

The torrent de l’Ofre is characterized by being a canyon of medium difficulty, by having a spectacular and wild environment in the sports area and by maintaining abundant water for a long time during the season. The most significant thing about the canyon is that it has a succession of magnificent waterfalls that save a very steep slope, in a relatively short section of the descent. An aquatic canyon with a really beautiful vertical aspect and  with a 34m fractional rappelling as the maximum difficulty. The approach begins in the village of Biniaraix (Sóller) and keeps going up the historic cobbled path, in 1hr 30min you reach the head. Torrent del Gorg Blau - Sa Fosca (natural monument)

Canyoning in Escorca

The descent into the Gorg Blau karst canyon is considered by many canyoners as the most beautiful in Europe. This is not surprising, since throughout its winding route, the narrowness and sustained verticality of its walls that exceed 200m in height and that even form a dark sector (Sa Fosca), imposes respect even to the bravest of sportsmen. The Gorg Blau torrent is characterized by being a canyon of high difficulty, as it is very aquatic and long, two characteristics that as the descent progresses, makes strength and body heat decrease. The approach, walking along the road and the trek down to the head, lasts30min. The canyon, from the very beginning from the old Turixant power station, is encased and continues its course forming a thin and deep cut in the relief of the mountain, until it reaches s’Entreforc, a point where its waters continue through the Torrent de Pareis to the sea. Then the return uphill on foot lasts about 2 hours for us.

The Gorg Blau torrent is like a symphony to the beautiful nature, where the staff is vertical and the notes are written in water. (Eduard Casajuana).
